Definition of advance robotics
Advance robotics can are a combination of sophisticated programming and powerful hardware that make use of smart sensor technology (including ultrasonic, touch, and light sensors) to interact with the real world around it.


What Does Advance Robotics Do?
Robots play important roles in the lives of humans as it is used in many applications. Below are some of the things that are being done by robots:
● MEDICNE
In the world of medicine, robots have played essential roles. For instance, robots help the surgeon do precise movements and work, even with shaky hands. Robotic surgery is now being used worldwide to assist doctors during surgical procedures. Robotically-assisted surgical (RAS) devices are used for pre-operative planning and surgical navigation during operations. The RAS enables the surgeon to use a computer and software technology to control and maneuver instruments through a small incision in the patient’s body. Due to robotic surgery, doctors can facilitate minimally-invasive surgery, access hard-to-reach areas in the body and assist with complex tasks.
● Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation robotics and prosthetics are increasingly becoming popular. Today, these robots can now think and able to interact directly with humans, through sensing neural and environmental signals, triggering movements in response. Rehabilitative robots help humans who lost limbs to move as if they still have their arms or legs. Hence, these robots help people live normal lives, despite disabilities.
● ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a term that involves the use of a computer to model or replicate intelligent behavior. Robotics today utilizes artificial intelligence, so they can perform tasks with minimal human intervention. This means they perform tasks automatically, without human control. AI is the recreation or replication of the human thought process. This man-made machine contains human intellectual abilities, including the ability to learn just about anything, the ability to use language, formulate original ideas, and the ability to reason.
● MARINE
Marine robotics has improved from navigation and control algorithms for surface and underwater vehicles. Now, robots are used to explore the oceans at an unprecedented scale, keeping scientists and engineers safe. These robots can also measure water pollution and the extent of coral damage in the world’s oceans. Robots play important roles in society. Aside from that, they make the lives of humans easier and faster.
● AGRICULTURE
The use of robots in agriculture has gained popularity over the years. Robotics help overcome challenges and problems in farmlands. Precision agriculture, dubbed as precision farming, is a type of farm management based on the use of various technologies, including robots. In farming, farmers no longer need to apply fertilizers, pesticides, and water across the fields. Machines and robotics can do this for the farmers at accurate levels, which can produce higher crop productivity, less runoff of chemicals into groundwater and rivers, and increased farmer safety.
How Does Advance Robotics Work
A basic typical advanced robot has a movable physical structure, a motor of some sort, a sensor system, a power supply and a computer “brain” that controls all of these elements. Essentially, robots are human-made versions of animal life — they are machines that replicate human and animal behavior.


USERS OF ROBOTS
Below are the user of advanced robots:
Manufacturing Industry: manufacturing industries makes use of robots to carryout manufacturing operations so as to increase productivity and also reduce repetitive process during production.
Medical personnel(surgeons): a robot is used in the medical sciences. They include surgical robots. These are in most telemanipulators, which use the surgeon’s activators on one side to control the “effector” on the other side. This type of robot carries out surgery on humans perfectly. They reduce the work load of surgeons during an operation.
The military: the military uses autonomous robots or remote-controlled mobile robots designed for military applications, from transport to search & rescue and attack.
Household: household uses autonomous robots that is primarily used for household chores, but may also be used for education, entertainment or therapy. While most domestic robots are simplistic, some are connected to Wi-Fi home networks or smart environments and are autonomous to a high degree. There were an estimated 16.3 million service robots.

DISADVANTAGES OF ADVANCE ROBOTICS

They Lead Humans to Lose Their Jobs
They need constant power supply
They are restricted to their programming
They perform relatively few task
They require expertise to set them up
They are expensive to install and run.
They have no emotions


HOW THE TECHNOLOGY HAS BEEN APPLIED IN NIGERIA
In Nigeria, robots are used as drones by the Nigerian military to keep surveillance on the enemy (bokoharam) they can also be used as armed systems to attack the opposing forces or as Medicare agents to help friendly forces. Some of the popular robots used in the Nigerian Military include MAARS (Modular Advanced Armed Robotic System) which looks like a tank and contains tear gas and lasers to confuse enemies and even grenade launcher for desperate situations.


● Applications like bionic limbs and cochlear implants are helping people regain functionality lost due to injury or illness.
• Robots can also evoke an emotional response in us.
• Robots may also become useful tools to help children develop social skills.
